Homework Sheet

IF you make a change in how your child will go home with, it must be in writing.

You can send a note with the child in advance OR email/fax a letter with your permission.

Please follow up with a phone call to the office if emailing the teacher or faxing the office.

In the event there is a substitute, your voice mail will not be hard until I return to school.

2011 Curriculum Night

When we begin our first week of homework:  UPDATED!

(Homework Begins after Curriculum Night) September 2, 2011

What should you expect?

There is a weekly homework sheet added to the HW folder every Monday.  This page includes the weekly spelling lists, Homework schedule and classroom announcements.

Please review the HW sheet nightly.

M-Th Spelling (10 words only)

Friday- Friday 100 Math Problems- Each night time your child 1 minute to complete as many math problems as possible.  The sheet will be finished by turn in day on Friday.

Friday- Friday Nightly Reading/ Fluency- 20 minutes or more preferred (20minutes required)

Friday-Friday Reading Summary- Students will right 3-4 sentences in Homework Journal M-Th Nights to tell about what they read that night.  Capitals and periods are expected.

What do I do with the Fluency Homework?

What if my child forgets homework at school or at home?  It is the responsibility of the child to bring homework back and forth.  As the teacher, I will give instructions to pack up with certain items daily- it is up to your child to follow through.  2nd grade is a year of developing personal responsibilities.  Some children take more time than others to make this a routine, others will have moments where they simply forget.  It is the expectation to have necessary items brought to school on time.  If forgotten, the child will sit out at play time to complete the necessary work.  If this becomes a habit, you will be contacted to discuss an action plan.
